These were all over my pant leg during a walk today — I have no idea how they got there. What are they

1. Plant burrs / hitchhiker seeds 🌱 (MOST LIKELY)

These are tiny seed pods designed by nature to cling to fabric, fur, and socks.

Common ones:

Beggar’s lice / sticktight seeds

Tick trefoil

Cleavers (aka “sticky weed”)

Foxtail grass seeds

Clues it’s this:

Dozens at once

Stuck more to fabric than skin

Show up after brushing past grass, trails, weeds

Often teardrop- or spike-shaped

Feel annoying but harmless

Plants basically use you as an Uber.

2. Grass awns / seed spikes 🌾

These look like:

Little needles

Barbed slivers

Hair-thin spikes

They wedge into fabric seams and socks like they mean it.

Why they’re sneaky:
They fall off plants easily and embed fast — you don’t notice until you stop walking.
