What happened:
A Boeing 787‑8 Dreamliner operated by Air India (Flight AI171) bound for London’s Gatwick Airport crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, India.
The aircraft was carrying 242 people (230 passengers and 12 crew members).
Nationalities aboard included 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, 7 Portuguese, and 1 Canadian.
